Algoma University, Brampton Campus

The University of Algoma, Brampton Campus welcomes over 5,000 students, housing a dozen faculties and departments, including the Algoma University School of Business & Economics, the School of Computer Science & Technology.

As a satellite campus, the priority for the University’s first phase of development was to create a ‘heart’, where students and faculty could gather and live a shared academic experience. Located at street level on the public Market Square, the University features prominent exterior signage, and view into a welcoming, airy student lounge with reconfigurable loose tables and chairs. Applied throughout the project, a warm but ‘northern’ material palette references the Sault Ste. Marie landscape and the University’s brand colours. From the lounge, teaching labs, study rooms and faculty offices mediate between the public areas and classrooms.
